Home Remedies for Dry Skin

Taking care of our skin is quite essential to lead a healthy life. Our skin is affected by our age, food patterns, lifestyle, environment etc. and it is up to us to take good care of it. Many people have dry skin, and it is either due to their skin type or the environment they live in or their food habits. Most of us tend to have dry skin during winter as we tend to drink less water and our skin does not get the right amount of moisture it needs to stay shiny and glowing. Dry skin is mostly caused due to lack of moisture in the skin, and thus you need to take adequate care to retain the moisture in their skin.

The following are some of the home remedies for dry skin:

Apply moisturiser:

When you apply moisturiser, you prevent the moisture from the skin from escaping. Try to use an oil-based moisturiser, or you can even consider applying coconut oil on your skin. Coconut oil keeps your skin shiny and also prevents the moisture from escaping your skin. You can also use almond oil or jojoba oil or mustard oil.

Use salt scrub:

Using sea salt scrub is one of the best ways to retain moisture in your skin. To make the scrub, you need to mix sea salt in warm water and mix glycerine to the water. Now gently apply and start to scrub it over your skin. Then gently rinse your skin with fresh water. However, do not use this scrub on open wounds as you will have severe burning sensation.

Aloe Vera Gel:

Aloe Vera is very good for your skin. If you happen to have an Aloe Vera plant in your home, you can cut a small part of its leaf and take the gel inside the leaf. Now you need to apply the gel on your face, hands and legs and leave it to dry. Your skin would have absorbed all the moisture from the gel, and you will not have dry skin the following day.

Drinking milk:

Studies have shown that milk contains a fat name phospholipid which is good for the skin and improved the condition for dry skin. You can directly drink milk or soak a clean piece of cloth in milk and leave it over your face for about 10 minutes. Now gently wash your face with warm water and repeat this procedure for best results.

You can also mix honey with milk. Honey can also be directly applied to the skin as it acts as a moisturiser and it is also anti-inflammatory.

Drink plenty of water:

One of the main reasons why our body gets dehydrated is because we do not consume enough water. Especially during winter we don’t feel too thirsty, and thus we avoid drinking water, and this makes our skin dry.

Dos and Don’ts for Naturally Beautiful Skin

Everyone loves to have a beautiful and impeccable skin, but no one is ready to take care of it in the first place. The world is obsessed with selling beauty products which will provide you flawless skin, but we all know the reality. All our bodies have a particular mechanism, and the way our skin looks depends on the food we eat, the environment we live in and the amount of pollution we get exposed. Skin is a vital part of our body, and it is essential for us to take proper care of it. The following are some of the dos and don’ts for naturally beautiful skin.

Understand your skin type:

Each one of us has different skin types and only when you understand your skin type you can take the appropriate treatment and care. Some of us tend to have oily skin while others might have dry skin. People with dry skin need to apply moisturiser to keep their skin moist and healthy. If you happen to have oily skin, you need to wash your face often as you do not want the oil to get accumulated in the pores of your skin. Check what your skin type is and based on that you can use the different types of creams that are available in the market.

Drink plenty of water:

Keeping yourself hydrated is very important to maintain healthy skin. When you do not drink water, your skin will shrink and become very dry. Water is known to flush out all the toxins in our body, and this will open up the pores and give your skin a healthy look.

Eat healthily:

Apart from applying different creams and other makeup products, if you want healthy and glowing skin, you need to eat healthily. Include a lot of vegetables in your diet, and you can eat raw tomatoes and other green veggies to brighten up your skin. Consider eating salmon or mackerel which is extremely high in omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids are perfect for your skin, and they also reduce the number of acne or pimples. Eating avocados and walnuts can also keep your skin shiny and healthy.

Do not use multiple beauty products:

As mentioned before the world is obsessed with selling you many beauty products and we get captured by the flawless cover girls we see in the magazines and tend to buy beauty products which we don’t even need. We end up using multiple beauty products on our skin and end up having rashes.

Do not keep touching your face often:

We often have the habit of touching our face, and it naturally happens. We don’t understand that our hands have a lot of bacteria and other germs in it and we keep them in different places every day. When we touch our face with our hands, we pass those germs to our face.
