Cost Effective Makeup Storage Ideas

05 August 2010 | by Courtney

As any woman will tell you, each and every year she just seems to run out of space for all of her “necessary” makeup items. Makeup storage does often become a problem for many ladies, but fret not – there are solutions out there!

For the Big Time Makeup Stasher

Got lots of makeup but don’t want to lug it around every where? Why not invest in a file cabinet? Many makeup artists bring only the makeup that they deem necessary in their travel kits and keep the rest at home. If you are a makeup artist with a ton of product that needs to be organized, then buy a file cabinet next time you find them on sale. You can find appropriate inserts that can easily organize your blushes, eye shadows, different color palettes and perfumes. Not only that, but cabinets are extremely easy to clean. A baby wipe or some soap and water will get rid of any and all messes.

For those of you with a Larger than Usual “Stash”

Sure, you may not have a TON of makeup, but you sure have a lot! If you have your fair share of makeup at home, you do not need to necessarily buy several small little makeup kits and storage cases. Instead you may wish to purchase either a small filing cabinet (similar to the ones that those with a huge makeup collection should consider buying) or you can buy a cheaper and perhaps more effective alternative: clear, plastic drawer “dressers”. The clear plastic drawers are easily cleaned (though they may stay if you do happen to drop a load of foundation or cream blush on them) and because the drawers are transparent, you can quickly and easily find just what you are looking for.

For those with a Moderately Sized Stash

Don’t have enough makeup to fill cabinet drawers but you still are finding makeup all over your washroom or bedroom at home? Not to worry. You can buy cheap organizers that are meant to organize items such as pens, paper clips, and other office supplies from office supply stores for a good price. Another idea is to raid the dollar store and find some chique little storage pieces there to help organize your numerous lipsticks, eye shadows, and mascaras.

For those looking to Stash Makeup in their Car

If you are looking to hide some makeup away in your car for “touch up” purposes and don’t want the makeup cluttering up your purse each and every day, there are some easy car solutions. One obvious one is to purchase a little makeup handbag that you can stow away in your glove compartment. Failing that, try using a stationary case that children use when they go off to school, or use an old glasses or sunglasses case to stow away some cover up, lipstick and mascara.

So forget all of those expensive makeup cases. You can easily find some cheap and simple solutions to help organize your makeup without wasting your next pay check. Remember to check out discount stores and see how any storage items that are on sale may be able to suit your needs.
