Evening Makeup Ideas You Can Try Tonight!

04 August 2010 | by Courtney

Is there anything more fun than putting on makeup for a night out? When it comes to evening makeup, there are a number of different styles and techniques you can use to look stunning. We’ll cover two of the best looks here.

The Smoky Eye

The dark, sultry eye makeup is truly the staple look when it comes to evening makeup. The smoky eye is also a look that anyone with any eye shape or eye color can accomplish.

1. Begin by using cover up a shade or two lighter than your foundation around the eye area. This will help even out your skin tone and give you a more polished look.

2. Next, pick a dark shade of eye shadow to wear. This dark shade will be the color to go in the crease of your eye. You may choose to use this color on your lid as well, though many women will choose a lighter eye shadow to cover their eyelid to create more of a contrasted look.

3. Start by applying a small amount of the darker shadow from the inner crease of your eye, working your way outwards. Try to use upwards strokes and feather the eye shadow out as you reach the outer corner of your eye.

TIP: Begin with a small amount of eye shadow. If you would like to darken your eye shadow, you can easily do so by layering more on.

4. Now it’ time to apply some eye liner! Apply a thicker line right against your lash line, moving from the inner corner of your eye to the outer corner.

5. Finish off the look by applying two coats of mascara.

TIP: Choose a lighter tone or subtle red shade of lipstick and bronzer to go with your sultry eyes.

The Glamour Look

The glamorous look is all about given you that glossy, polished look.

1. Focus on giving yourself a flawless complexion by applying cover up, foundation, and translucent powder to your skin

2. Choose one lighter shade of eye shadow (such as a peach, champagne, or taupe shade) and one darker shade. Sweep the lighter shade over your eye lid and brush the darker eye shadow in upwards strokes from your inner eyelid to the outer corner of your eye.

3. Take your eye liner and create a clean line along the lash line, moving from the inner corner to the outer corner. Fan the eye liner outwards when you reach the outer corner. Then apply a thin line of eye liner along the bottom lash line.

4. Follow up with two coats of mascara.

5. To really frame your face, take an eyebrow pencil and, in short strokes, use this to fill in your eyebrows and to define their shape.

6. Find a bolder shade of lipstick, such as a striking red shade and a complimentary lip liner. Line your lips and then take your lipstick and apply it with either a lip brush or directly from the tube.

TIP: For a very glamorous look, follow up by applying a clear gloss over top of the lipstick.

7. Finish off the look with a rosy shade of blush and add some shimmer to your cheek bone, temples, along the brow bone and the inner corner of your eyes.
