Bright Eyes are All the Rage

Walk by any beauty stores these days and the models are splashed with bright, stunning colors. Neon yellows, bright pinks, lime greens and bold blues are all colors that are trendy and “in” right now. For a truly funky makeup look, try adding one or two of these eye shadows to your makeup routine.

If you have never applied bright eye shadow to your eyes before, then it may be a bit shocking and maybe even scary to see yourself with these bold colors on your eyelids. Start off with a small amount and apply more as you go. You’ll be surprised just how quickly you will become accustomed to seeing bright, neon pink on your eyes!

Use your Eyeliner like an Artist Uses Charcoal

Eyeliner doesn’t need to be limited to just lining your upper and lower eyelid. Next time you are applying eyeliner, try stretching those boundaries and extend the line. Some of the most popular different ways to apply eyeliner include:

• Fishtails. This involves you fanning out the eye liner on both the bottom and upper eyelid so that it creates a “fishtail” effect
• Cat eyes. This mostly involves the upper eyelid. Take your eyeliner and, once you reach the outer corner of your eye, continue to draw the line upwards to create a ‘cat eye’ look.
• Create curls. Rather than simply end the eyeliner at the outer corner of your eye, draw a “curl” at the end of your lower lash line, upper lash line, or both!

Be Adventurous with your Lipstick

Forget those muted reds and pinks. Go bold! Choosing different colors of lipsticks are becoming the new “it” thing these days as people expand beyond choosing red shades to blues, greens, white, and black colors. For a really multi dimensional look, try painting your upper lip a lighter color or shade than the lower lip.

TIP: You can even add a dab of slightly lighter toned lipsticks to the centre of your lips to further create dimension.

Add Contour Lines with Blush

Think that you are only stuck with using pinky, rosy shades for your cheeks? Think again. Funky new blush shades are coming out continuously. Try adding shimmer shades to your cheeks for a slightly more funky look, or go all out and try dark dramatic shades. With the darker shades, draw a “sharp” blush line upwards on your cheekbones to give your cheeks some definition and shape.

TIP: For the very bold and daring, use completely off-the-wall colors for your blush, such as blues and greens.

Use Decals

One of the easiest ways to have funkier looking makeup is to use decals and gem stickers! Applying these to your cheeks, inner eyelid, or even right along your lash line will really create a daring effect.
