Hair Detangler – Untangle That Mess Of Hair

29 October 2010 | by Courtney

If you need a hair detangling product, you full on know why you need it. Your hair is an absolute disaster after ever shampoo and conditioning, and you just can’t seem to get even your widest tooth come through it! Your hair may be thick, thin, or it may even be your baby’s hair that needs a hair detangler.

Babies have their own specific hair detanglers that you can most often find in the infant or child care section of any drugstore. Most of these basically do the same job of detangling baby-thin hair, though always strive to get a “tear free” formula for your child. Chances are that the product you are using will undoubtedly get into his or her eyes some.

Adults have a lot of good detanglers to choose from, and at a wide price range. First, if you are using a detangler, consider why. Is it because your hair is quite damaged and perhaps needs some extra upkeep and care? Or is it because you are not using a hair conditioner after each shampoo? If you are using a conditioner and you still need a detangler, try using a thicker, more hydrating conditioner. This should solve the problem.

A great hair detangler that is Alberto’s VO5 Detangle and Shine Leave-In Conditioner. This weightless conditioner will leave your hair incredibly healthy and manageable. You may think at $6-$10 a bottle this product is a bit expensive, but consider how much damage ripping through your hair with a comb is causing. If you do not have a quality hair detangler in the first place, you will be paying a lot of money for other products to try to re-nourish and repair your hair. Try buying online, too, as this will help cut down the costs.

Some other women swear by the Infusium 23 Leave In treatment. This product is fairly inexpensive and most women report noticeable results immediately. This product will actually infuse your hair’s cuticles so that they can be restored right back to their healthy strength and texture. This protects your hair from any damage, so your hair will gradually become more manageable as a result. You may find that you no longer need a leave in treatment after a couple of months.

NOTE: Some women have reported that extended use of this product actually dries out or “fries” their hair. Be sure to continually monitor your hair and see if there are any negative side effects with use of this or any product.

Here’s something else you can do: make your own hair detangler! All you need is a spray bottle, conditioner, and water. Take 1 part conditioner and add 2 parts water. Combine these in a spray bottle, shake it up, and use! Most women swear by this simple little homemade trick that is not only inexpensive, but it’s also incredibly effective on both long hair and short, coarse hair alike. Try out a few different hair detanglers and see which leave you with the best results!
