Heading out to a special event but not entirely sure how to finish off your look? Coming up with eye makeup ideas and trying out new colors and application techniques can be a real headache if you don’t know what you’re doing, but teaching yourself a few tricks and taking a few things into consideration will really help you along with your eye makeup for that party or special event you are attending.
When considering different eye makeup ideas, think about:
- What kind of an event are you going to? Will the makeup you have thought of so far match the mood or atmosphere of that event?
- When you envision what makeup you will be wearing, does it really compliment your skin tone and your attire?
- If your makeup doesn’t match your personality, you will probably feel uncomfortable all night – which everyone will be able to read from a mile away. Is the makeup you plan on applying going to suit your personality?
With those points taken into consideration, it’s time to plot out exactly what your eye makeup is going to look like. Are you going to look for one of the trendy looks of the season? Or perhaps you are going to duplicate a “look” you saw in a high fashion magazine. Maybe you have always dreamed of having that classic, seductive “smoky eye” look that you have seen ever so often and are determined to pull it off. No matter what the look may be, experiment, experiment and then experiment some more! The more you practice applying the makeup, the more you will know how to do it properly on that day. You can tailor your colors and techniques so that you can achieve the look you want and you will feel confident with your appearance.
Now, before you even begin to apply your makeup, the most important thing is your face preparation. Be sure to cleanse, exfoliate, tone and hydrate your skin before applying any sort of makeup to your face and neck. Then, choose a yellow-based concealer and apply it to those areas that may need a bit of extra coverage. This may be your chin, cheeks, or even your eye area if you have dark under eye circles or obvious small veins around your eyes. Remember, your eye makeup probably will not cover up or conceal any sort of different coloring or imperfections around the eyes, so it is up to you to create a smooth appearance through concealer and foundation.
Once you have done that, now is the fun part! For dramatic looks, choose black shades for mascara and eye liners; if you want a more natural appearance, opt for brown and grey alternatives in both products. Then go nuts with what ever eye shadow or eye shadows you choose to use! Bold, bright colors are trendy but dramatic, dark makeup is always in style. Take your time practicing how you would like to apply whatever look you re going for and you will be sure to look stunning on that special day.
