How To Get Your Legs Slim And Trim

Is there anything more stunning than a hot, sexy pair of legs? Summer is right around the corner again, but you have just enough time to tone up your legs, thighs and hips so that you look fabulous in those short summer skirts and shorts that we all love to wear during those hotter months.

The key to having those sexy legs is to both build muscle and to burn fat at the same time. These simple exercises below will help you get the legs that you deserve!

The Quad Squeeze

This exercise can easily be done at home with no extra tools required. Sit down on your bedroom floor and keep your back straight. Now, put your hands beside yourself on the floor. Extend your right leg out in front of you and bend your left leg at the knee, placing your left foot so that it is flat against your bedroom floor. Exhale and tighten up the muscle at the top of your thigh. This is your quadriceps muscle. Press the back of the leg onto the floor, and then hold the pose for 10 seconds. Relax your leg and repeat the same steps for the next leg. Do this ten times for both legs and you will have firmer inner and outer thighs in a few short weeks.

Sculpt your Thighs

To further tone up your thighs, begin as you did with the first exercise by sitting on the floor with your back straight and your hands placed beside you on the bedroom floor. Now extend your right leg right in front of you and bend your left knee, once again placing your left foot flat on the bedroom floor. Exhale and then flex your right foot while taking care to tighten up your right quadriceps. Raise your leg 4 to 6 inches off of the ground, taking care to keep it straight and hold that pose for 10 seconds. As with the other exercise, do this ten times for each leg.

Tone your Buns

Everyone wants a nice, tight butt, don’t they? You can easily do this with yourself and a chair. Start off by sitting on the edge of any chair (a flat, hard chair is preferable) and rest your hands on the chair near your hip area. Put your feet on the floor, and then bend your knees. Exhale and lift your hips, using your hands and feet to support the rest of your body. While you are doing this, try to imagine someone pulling your hips out towards the ceiling. Arch that back of yours until you can picture it having a curved “bridge” shape. Hold the pose for 20 seconds, and then slowly sink back down to the chair in a controlled fashion. Work on this until you are able to hold the pose for 60 seconds or more.

Add Cardio

When ever you are doing any sort of strengthening or muscle toning exercises, it’s always a good idea to also do some cardio to really burn off any excess flab. This is essential if you have any cellulite on your legs and buns as well. Going for a brisk 30 minute walk, a run, playing a sport, or riding your bike are all good ways to work on your cardio. What ever it is that elevates your heart rate, do this for at least 30 minutes a day to maximize your fat burning potential.
