Who doesn’t like a good party? What woman doesn’t want to look good? Make up parties are becoming all the rage as women learn just how great it is to get together, learn some new makeup tricks and look fabulous!
To prepare for a make up party, it’s first important to start planning for it. Is this party going to be a more intimate party with a select number of female (or even male) friends? Or will you need to rent out an entire hall just to throw the party? Smaller parties are usually a better idea when it comes to makeup parties as there is then more much needed one-on-one time with the beauty professional. Women like to feel pampered, so having that extra attention will make your party a success.
Next, you should line up a professional make up artist or two to attend your make up party. You can put up postings online, put up fliers around town, or inquire with a beauty school in your area. Ask any beauticians at the department store or drug store if they or anyone they know would be interested in hosting a make up party at your home and offer a dollar point per hour! If you are having a professional come over, you must ask:
- How many years experience do you have?
- What sort of makeup do you apply?
- Will you be providing the makeup materials yourself?
- Will any of the makeup you provide (if any) be available for purchase?
Be sure to bring up any other questions you may have before hiring the make up professional on, and be sure to ask for perhaps some samples or examples of his or her work.
Deciding who to invite may also prove to be problematic if you do have a lot of girlfriends or male friends who may be interested in coming, but you lack the space. Ask your closest friends first and see if they would be interested, and then extend the invite to any one else you will be able to fit in.
Next is the fun part – planning the decorations and the refreshments! Women usually love to get together for a glass of wine and some snacks, though be sure to offer some sparkling water, juice, cheese and crackers and vegetables. You can even ask the guests to bring along some of their own appetizers to share or a dessert if the party is being held after lunch or dinner. You can also have the make up party be a “brunch” sort of affair as well and prepare some light snack fare, such as deli meats and gourmet crackers.
The last part is making sure that your house is properly set up for the party and that there is an area for the make up artist to set up his or her items. To really benefit the group, try to include some sort of skin care or anti aging regime in with the make up routine to give an all encompassing skin health and beauty tutorial.
