How to Wear Colored Mascara

26 August 2010 | by Courtney

In the cosmetic industry, there are a lot of trends that come in and out of style. Different eyeshadow colors become a trend, different shades of lipstick become popular, and the use of colored mascara also tends to float in and out of style every few years.

Colored mascara has a number of different purposes in the cosmetic industry. One area in the makeup industry where colored mascara is always in demand is in the theater industry. The theater industry counts on different makeup products to help create characters and have them appear just as the author or director has envisioned.

Fashion runways also often use colored mascara to achieve a desired look or effect that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do with the standard black, brown or navy mascara shades that are always available o the market.

So how can colored mascara work for the every day woman? A great thing about colored mascara is that it can help you truly enhance your eye color and really give your eyes that trendy look. It can help you stand out from the crowd and express your own individuality. Colored mascaras also offer the same features that our standard mascara offers, such as lash lengthening colored mascara, thickening colored mascara, and conditioning colored mascara.

Here are some of the most popular shades of colored mascara and how you can wear them to really stand out from the crowd:

Purple Colored Mascara

Purple mascara is a great choice for anyone with green or hazel colored eyes as it really makes your eyes stand out! When one first thinks about wearing purple mascara, they tend to quickly change their mind in fear that the purple mascara may look tacky or even downright clownish. Fact of the matter is, purple colored mascara can actually be quite flattering and give you a very polished, sophisticated appearance.

To pull off a purple mascara, you can begin with applying a dark, chocolate brown eye liner to your lids. Apply berry shades of eyeshadow to your eyelids, and then follow up with a coat or two of purple colored mascara!

Blue Colored Mascara

Blue is perhaps the least intimidating of all of the colored mascara, simply because it is a trendy color that has been used for decades. Blue mascara can range from dark blue right up to electric hues and turquoise tones. Contrary to how many people feel about pairing blue eyeshadow with blue eyes, blue eyes go well with blue mascara. To really draw out your blue eyes, pair the blue colored mascara with a blue eyeshadow (make sure that the blue eyeshadow you choose is not the same tone of blue as your eye color).

Anyone with brown or hazel eyes can also easily pull off blue colored mascara.

Green Colored Mascara

Green mascara may be the most intimidating of them all. If you’re thinking about wearing green mascara, make it a strong consideration if you have green eyes only. Green colored mascara will really give your green eye that extra color that will make them real head-turners! Green colored mascara works particularly well if paired with ocean-inspired tones and hues, such as pearlescent shades or oyster tones.
