One of the best things about having brown eyes is having the innate ability wear almost any eye make up color that there is out there! While blues, greens, greys and hazels are restricted from exploring certain shades and tones, most brown eyes can pull off absolutely any color or color combination known.
The color brown itself is a mix of most other colors out there, which is why you can use all of these different eye shadow colors with less fear and trepidation than those with other eye colors.
Despite being able to pull off almost any color, which colors will look best with your brown eyes definitely does depend on the shade of your brown that your eyes are. Here are some tips about what make up colors to choose for your shade of brown eyes:
Light or “Hazel” Eyes
Make up and eye shadows that are just a tone darker than your normal skin tone will look fabulous with your hazel eyes. Mauves, apricots, pinks and champagne tones will truly bring out the colors in your eyes. Try lining your hazel eyes with bronze shades, chocolate or dark browns, and violet shades for a truly stunning look.
Light Brown Eyes
Light brown eyes often are accompanied by gold specs near the iris of the eye. To really bring out those gold tones, use pale yellows as a highlighting shade for your eyes. Try to limit the amount of dark shades that you use (unless you are going for a very dramatic look) and use a brown eye liner rather than a black eye liner, even in the evening. The black eye liner may overpower your lighter colored eyes and cause the focal point to be on the liner itself rather than your gorgeous eyes.
Medium Brown Eyes
If you have medium brown eyes, congratulations! You officially have the eye color that is the easiest to work with amongst any others. You can try mauve shades, violets and purples and have your eyes truly “pop”. Golds, coppers, bronzes and browns will look great, and greens are breathtaking. Since you can use all of these different colors o n your eyes, go crazy with the color combinations and see what you come up with!
Dark Brown Eyes
Some women mistake their dark brown eyes to actually be black! Any color of medium to dark eye shadow will look great on you, though you must make use of your highlighting “lighter” shades as well. Using too many dark shades and colors on your dark brown eyes can make your eyes appear overpowering and “harsh”. Practice contrasting light shades with darks to obtain a truly trendsetting look.
Black mascara works well for all of the above eye colors, though if you do have hazel eyes you may want to consider going with a dark brown shade.
Now it’s time to start playing around with colors! Try to find at least 2 day time looks and 2 smoldering nighttime looks and practice applying the make up to see what looks good and what doesn’t.
