Getting ready for that one special day can certainly be stressful – but you don’t have to look like you are! Discovering just what wedding make up will look best on you is something that should not be decided on the morning of your wedding. This is your one special day, and you know that any bad make up will only come back to haunt you in the hundreds of pictures that are going to be taken that day.

Whether you choose to do the make up yourself or hire a professional, it is important to find out just what make up looks you are looking for and to experiment on yourself before making up your mind. You will find some of the best wedding make up ideas in this article so that you look fabulous and flawless on your wedding day.

Make Sure your Skin is Flawless but Fresh

Many brides make the mistake of using a thick, pancake-like foundation on their skin so that they appear “flawless” on their wedding day. The downfall to this is that it does appear chalky, fake, and oftentimes just not very pretty.

When choosing a foundation, choose one that will give you medium coverage, but use your cover up to do most of the covering up of any flaws or imperfections you would like to hide. Be sure to choose a concealer that is a shade or two lighter than your foundation and blend both the concealer and the foundation well with either a sponge or your index finger.

To keep your skin fresh, choose a natural looking blush that is only one shade darker than that which you’d wear during the day. This way your blush will still be visible to your guests at a distance, but it won’t be overwhelming and look bad. Apply the blush with a large blush brush to the apples of your cheeks and brush it out to your temples. After blush, you may want to consider applying a bronzer over top for a more sun kissed look (this is particularly wonderful if you are having a summer wedding) and/or apply body glitter to your cheeks, temples, inner eye lids and outer eye lids.

Keep your Eyes Natural yet Bold

There’s a very fine line between keeping your eyes looking natural yet also having them stand out and not be overwhelming. Eye make up on your wedding day should accentuate your eye shape and show case your eyes, but in such a way that it is fresh and “pretty” rather than heavy and dramatic.

One way to do this is to start off by choosing a tri-color eye shadow pallet. You want a light eye shadow, a medium shade, and a darker shade. Begin by sweeping the light shade all over your eye lid up to your brow bone. Take the medium shade of eye shadow and apply it to just the crease of your eye. With the darker shade of eye shadow, add it to the corner of your eye crease and brush it slightly outwards. You may also want to add some darker shadow right along the lash line.

Next, take your eye liner and apply a thin line to both the upper and lower lashes. Curl your eye lashes with an eye lash curler, and then apply 1-2 coats of long lasting, waterproof mascara (and you will certainly want to be sure that it is waterproof!).

Pinks, browns, and other natural shades are all great options. If you choose these colors in shimmery tones, you will be particularly pleased with the results!
